Quick look to the interface

The purpose of Metadrive is to manage Google Drive documents giving extra functionalities.

TIP: We don’t want to replace Google Drive, use both applications together and get advanced features.

First of all, you have to install Metadrive. Then, you can open a Drive folder directly from Drive, or within a Gadget. See all different running modes here.

Once you have your Drive folder opened within Metadrive, you will see something like this:


Let’s explain each component:

Search box

Search for specific documents in all the folder hierarchy

Open a folder directly from Metadrive



Navigate around the folder structure



Grouping button

Advanced filter option for your documents. Group by system or custom properties.




No folders button

Display all documents in folders and subfolders in a flat structure



Open in Drive

Open your folder in Drive directly from Metadrive


Folder properties (owner & managers only)

Manage and create your folder configuration


Views menu

Select views for faster information visualization


Columns menu

Select which information you want to see or apply advanced filters

Some actions into the documents

  • Edit metadata: opens edit metadata panel
  • View details: opens information metadata panel (switch to edit option)
  • Open: opens the document in a new tab
  • Share: share document directly from Metadrive
  • Get link: document link
  • Rename file: rename the document directly from Metadrive (explanation)
  • Send by email: send document link by gmail
  • Export to PDF: export document to PDF format
  • Make a Copy: make a copy of the document
  • Delete file: delete the document directly from Metadrive
